What Cadence collects, what it doesn’t, and how encounter data is handled. Last updated May 2026.

    What we collect

Encounter performance data submitted through the Cadence addon: character name, realm, region, class, spec, role, and per-encounter metrics (DPS, HPS, APM, uptime, deaths, interrupts, dispels, item level, and the cast counts of your top abilities). We also store the encounter’s identifying fingerprint — boss/dungeon, difficulty, keystone level, and approximate timestamp — so that submissions can be cross-referenced.

    What we don’t collect

Combat logs. Chat. Voice. Email addresses (unless you sign up for a Plus account). IP addresses are used only for rate-limiting and are not retained alongside encounter rows. We don’t track you across the web, and we don’t fingerprint your browser.

    How we use the data

Submissions are validated against Blizzard’s public API to confirm the encounter happened. They are then cross-referenced with other reporters’ submissions of the same pull to compute corroborated scores, percentile cohorts, and trust tiers. The result is what you see on player profiles, encounter pages, leaderboards, and Plus tools.

    Sharing and third parties

We never sell encounter data. We don’t share it with advertisers. Aggregated and per-character results are public on profiles and leaderboards — the same way they are public in any leaderboard-style site. Blizzard’s API is the only third-party service we contact, and only to verify submissions.

    Retention and deletion

Encounter data is retained while it remains useful for historical rankings and profile timelines. You can request deletion of your character’s data, or unlinking from a Plus account, by contacting us at the address below. Quarantined or disputed submissions are retained for fraud-prevention review but are excluded from public scoring.
